**Kitties are not always in the mood to be groomed, bathed, and brushed out. If it happens to be a day when your kitty is not in the mood for the grooming process, and I feel they are too stressed to be worked on that day, we will call you to come pick up your kitty. You will only be charged for the work the groomer was able to get done. We can then try on another day if you’d like. Sometimes a different day makes a big difference for the kitties. :-)

**Often we get the question: “Why are cats so expensive to have groomed?” The answer is because they are high risk. Kitties do not always behave well for their grooming and bath, and most are quick to use their claws, or teeth if they don’t have front claws. The groomer is taking the risk of getting bitten or scratched by a cat anytime they agree to groom one. If the groomer gets bitten by a cat, it is an automatic trip to the doctor, (because cat bites get very infected very quickly) and most likely days or weeks off work. If the groomer gets scratched by a cat, they risk getting cat scratch fever, which is also days or weeks off work. Grooming a cat could potentially end a groomer’s career, if the bite or scratch happens to be in a spot that does significant nerve damage to the groomers hand or arm. So because of the risk the groomer is taking cats are more expensive to groom than dogs.

**Not all cats can be groomed outside of a medical environment. Here at Sparta we will not groom cats who are sedated or on medication for heart conditions, epilepsy, anxiety, bone cancer, etc. If your cat needs to be sedated for grooming they need to be groomed at a vet’s office where medical professionals are right there.

**Senior cats, cats over the age of 10, are groomed on a case by case basis.
